My name is Leanne and welcome to my fabric giveaway for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day. I hope you will take a minute to look around my blog, where I chronicle my quilting and sewing adventures. You do not need to be a follower to enter this giveaway but if you like what you see, I hope you will join in and follow along.
This giveaway is for a fat quarter bundle of all 16 of the fabrics in the Echo line by Lotta Jansdotter. The image above is from the Fabricworm website - where I purchased the bundle. (The bundle is still in transit, I will edit this with a picture of it here when it arrives.)
If you would like to enter to win this fabric bundle, you need to leave me a comment on this post. Only one comment per person, please (I will remove extra ones). Let me know your favourite holiday treats - cookies, cakes, squares, or whatever. I will be baking this week and would love some new ideas.
I will draw a random winner after 6 pm on Friday December 16, 2011. If you have not attached an email to your profile, please leave it in the comment. If there is no way to contact you, I will draw again immediately. I am happy to ship anywhere in the world from my home in Canada.
Edited to add: Already I have a bunch of "no-reply" comments. Please add your email to your comment if you are not certain your email address is attached to your profile. If I cannot reach you and you are the winner, I will draw again.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great question! I had to locate my mom's 1964 edition of the Joy of Cooking to find it - they're called Cocoa Kisses. They're basically flavored meringues:
ReplyDeletePreheat oven to 250F (120/130C)
Sift 1 cup sugar
Whip until stiff but not dry:
- 3 egg whites
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Gradually add 1/2 sugar.
Combine:
- 2 tsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Add the liquid, a few drops at a time, alternately with the remaining sugar. Whip constantly.
Fold in:
-3 tablespoons cocoa
(note: you can also add 1/2-1 cup chopped pecans at this point, but I don't)
Drop the batter from a spoon onto a lightly greased tin and shape into cones. Bake until the kisses are partly dry and retain their shape. Remove from the pan while hot.
I'm partial to cookies. and Turtles

For some reason I end up being the person everyone else gets to sample their holiday baked goods... without ever having to make any myself! Thanksgiving I go crazy, but Christmas baking is virtually non-existent for me. Last year my sister made these buttery, toffee-ish, pecan bars that were to DIE for. I'm hoping she makes another batch for me to sample this year!

ReplyDeleteOOO! The Lotta Jansdotter fabric is on my Christmas wish list! I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite "quicky" Christmas treat are "poor man's turtles": cover a cookie sheet with parchment or foil (preheat oven to 350). Place pretzel "butter snaps" (the small squares with grids across them) on the sheet and top with an unwrapped rolo (it's great if you have kids- they can unwrap them all!). Bake in the oven for 5-8 minutes. Let cool for a minute and top with a pecan half (or an M&M or any other yummy thing to press into the top). Smush it down a little so the melted rolo "bonds" everything together. Let cool (in teh fridge if you're in a hurry) and enjoy!
You can also use a hershey kiss instead of a rolo.
Have fun!
